About Us
The New River Heritage Coalition was formed in 2004 by the leadership
of local heritage sites with a goal to increase recognition, visitation, and interest in Coalition sites through cooperative efforts. Our mission is to strive to present a cohesive picture of the natural and cultural heritage that thrives in the New River Valley of Virginia.
Our vision is to become the lead resource for heritage tourism visitors, residents, and other museums (both locally and beyond). Using a cohesive marketing effort, collaborative programming, and cross-promotion we will raise awareness of the region's culture, tradition, and heritage.
Representatives of New River Heritage Coalition member sites meet monthly and enjoy networking and training opportunities, collaboration with other professionals, and exposure through combined marketing.
Current membership includes history museums, house museums, art centers, a geoscience museum, and several museums that are not yet open to the public. Be sure to click on the "Visit Us" tab to learn more about the sites.
The New River Heritage Coalition is supported by grants from the
Community Foundation of the New
River Valley, membership fees,
and private donations. If you would like to be a part of the New
River Heritage Coalition, please contact any member site.
